Flight Log: 2-4-11

The Flight of Man is underway! Pre-Production has begun and the producers, director, and just about everyone else are all working hard to see this film to completion. I am so excited to be a part of this! It is exciting as an editor to be involved so early on the project, because I can not only ensure that the workflow will lead to a better experience in the edit bay, but I also get to be involved creatively from the start. This is a story that is going to resonate with so many people and I can't wait to see where it goes!

Me and Riley Robertson, my Assistant Editor, have begun work on the promo video for the film. Zack, Daniel, Nick, Rebekah and Alicia (writer/director, DP, production design, producer, and producer, respectively) all shot some amazing footage talking about the film and what we are doing, and now it's up to me and Riley to put it all together! We're taking a new approach for the promo video, which I'm really excited about and can't wait for you to see it. Me and Riley had an amazing meeting today, talking about how we want the video to be structured, and it's just amazing to me how essential story is to something as simple as a promotional piece! We want the audience to get a taste of the film and how it will strike them emotionally, without showing them the film. Which is difficult, but ultimately worth it, and will hopefully begin to excite people about the project like we are.

I don't want to spoil it too much yet (though expect to see it soon!), but to keep you satisfied, I'm going to include some videos Zack sent to me as inspiration that I hope inspire you as well!
